Description: This series marks a deeply reflective and emotionally sparse period in my artistic journey, spanning two to three years. The works are characterized by a restrained, almost monochromatic palette, which I later realized was a subconscious expression of significant personal difficulty—a time when I could not use color.
The foundational process reflects this internal state: rice paper (화선지) is crumpled to create an intense surface texture, adhered to the canvas, and then treated with ink (먹) and a large volume of water. This technique creates extremely faint, pale tones (엷은 색), allowing the ink to bleed into the crevices of the wrinkled paper.
The resulting abstract images are not just technical exercises; they are a visual record of a mind seeking quietude and release. The pervasive absence of hue and the profound textures speak to the struggle and eventual discovery of the self, a silent language understood only in the quiet dialogue between ink, paper, and the canvas.

침묵의 언어
이 연작은 저의 예술 여정 중 2~3년에 걸친 깊은 성찰과 정서적 공백을 기록한 시기입니다. 이 시기의 작품들은 극도로 절제된 단색조 팔레트가 특징인데, 훗날 이는 제가 개인적으로 매우 힘든 시기를 겪으며 색을 사용할 수 없었음을 무의식적으로 표현했었다는 것을 깨달았습니다.
작업 과정은 그 내면의 상태를 반영합니다. 화선지를 일단 꾸겨서 캔버스에 붙인 후, 마른 후에 물을 많이 넣고 먹을 아주 조금만 넣어서 색을 엷게 만들었습니다. 이 기법은 종이의 주름진 틈새로 먹물이 스며들게 하여 극도로 연하고 희미한 톤을 만들어냅니다.
이 추상적인 이미지들은 단순한 기술적 시도가 아닙니다. 이는 고요함과 안정을 찾으려 했던 마음의 시각적 기록입니다. 만연한 색의 부재와 깊은 질감은 그 당시의 힘든 과정을 이야기하며, 먹과 종이, 그리고 캔버스 사이의 조용한 대화 속에서만 이해되는 침묵의 언어입니다.
