Description: This painting honors the spirit of Dosalpuri, a Korean traditional dance, as performed by Yang Gil-sun, holder of Korea’s National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 97.Through the flowing lines and gentle curves of the brush, I sought to express the breathlike motion of her long white scarf — a sacred thread uniting heaven and earth.Rooted in Korean shamanic ritual, Dosalpuri is an improvised dance performed to dispel misfortune (sal) and restore peace, embodying the ancient Korean belief that harmony renews life. This artwork captures that spiritual rhythm, where every gesture, like her dance, becomes both healing and prayer.
