A Tapestry of Breath

This work is a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional Chinese blue-and-green landscape painting tradition, particularly inspired by the aesthetic sensibility of Song-dynasty landscapes housed in National Palace Museum.
Built upon the vivid and decorative colors characteristic of blue-and-green landscape painting, the work evokes the “ideal world” pursued in Song landscape art. Here, landscape is not merely a depiction of nature, but a symbolic vision of an inner and spiritual realm to which humanity aspires.
The exaggerated mountain forms, ornamental planes of color, and idealized spatial composition resonate deeply with the poetic sensibility of Korean folk painting. The ridges of the mountains seem at times like a slowly breathing dragon, at others like rolling waves, or even the soft folds of flowing silk. This organic movement imbues the entire composition with vitality and a quiet musical rhythm.
Through this work, the artist seeks to express an Eastern worldview that perceives nature as a vast and living symphony. Mountains and water, color and line, are not separate entities but interconnected breaths within a single resonance. The painting unfolds like a silent orchestral piece, gradually permeating the viewer’s inner world with stillness and contemplation.
